Frequently Asked Questions
01
What will the first session consist of?
Before your first session, many individuals experience pre-appointment jitters as they are unsure about what the therapist may ask, or what all they want to share. Your therapist will be interested in the reasons behind your appointment, the actions you've taken to address your issue, and your therapy goals. In order to gain a comprehensive understanding, expect questions about crucial aspects of your life (intimate relationships, traumas, support etc.). If you and your therapist decided to continue, you will collaboratively set therapy goals. If any discomfort arises, expressing it allows your therapist to offer a referral to another professional.
02
Can I expect to feel better immediately?
Expectations for improvement vary. Some may feel relief right away, especially after making the commitment to attend therapy. Others may not experience immediate benefits. Therapy can be emotionally challenging as it involves deep self-reflection and difficult changes. Short-term distress may arise, but the log-term gains in self-esteem and improved relationships can make the process worthwhile when therapy is successful.
03
How does payment work?
Culture Collective Counseling, LLC (CCC) offers several payment options for clients. The first is private pay This means the client is paying out of their own pocket. There is a set fee for therapy services depending on the modality (individual therapy, family therapy etc.) It does not involve an insurance company covering part of the bill. CCC provides a sliding scale option (i.e. adjusted rates) based on the income of clients, in order for services to stay more affordable.
The second option is using insurance. CCC accepts Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Optum, and Kaiser Nor Cal. Utilizing your insurance provider allows for a portion of your cost to be covered. The client would only be responsible for their co-pay.
04
Are therapy sessions in-person?
CCC offers in-person, remote and virtual sessions. In-person sessions take place at our San Bernardino office. Remote sessions are in person, but may be arranged at a local library or community location depending on clinician's availability. Virtual sessions are sessions done confidentially over a phone or computer using an online service.
